Sue Bratton, Ph.D., LPC-S, RPT-S
Sue Bratton is an emeritus professor at the University of North Texas and emeritus director of the UNT Center for Play Therapy, with over 35 years of experience as a therapist, researcher, and educator.
Internationally recognized as a speaker and author, she has authored over 100 publications and delivered more than 350 professional presentations in counseling for children and families, specializing in child-centered play therapy and filial therapy.
She is a co-author of publications including:
– “Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT): An Evidence-Based 10-Session Filial Therapy Model”
– “CPRT Treatment Manual”
– “CPRT in Action,” a demonstration video illustrating CPRT with adoptive families
– “Child-Centered Play Therapy Research”

Sue Bratton’s research program focuses on investigating the effectiveness of child-centered play therapy, filial therapy, and school-based play therapy for children and their families.
She is a past president of the Association for Play Therapy (APT), recipient of the APT Lifetime Achievement Award (2016), APT Outstanding Research Award (2007), Chi Sigma Iota Excellence in Counseling Supervision Award (2011), ACA Best Practice Award (2013), AHC Humanist Educator/Supervisor Award (2013), ACA Extended Research Award (2014), and several university teaching and research awards.
Sue is also a co-author of an international certification program for child-centered play therapy and filial therapy. She is an active advocate for children at local, national, and international levels, particularly for children from disadvantaged groups who have experienced interpersonal trauma. Her lifelong work focuses on helping children access the support and care they need to reach their personal potential.
Maggie Fearn SFHEA; MA DATP; MA HIPPT
Maggie Fearn is an integrative child psychotherapist (ECIP – European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy), a registered play therapist (BAPT – British Association of Play Therapy), a filial therapist, and supervisor (ECIP and BAPT).
She is an international ambassador for the British Association of Play Therapy (BAPT), a founding member, and international representative of BAPT on the Board of the International Consortium of Play Therapy Associations (IC-PTA).
Maggie works as a senior therapist at The Windfall Center in South and West Wales. She lectured on play therapy at the University of South Wales (2017-2022) and continues as a visiting lecturer and academic affairs representative at the Children’s Therapy Center in Ireland.
For 30 years, she practiced as a play therapist and facilitated forest schools (2001-2018). In 2010, she completed training in Body and Earth: Experiential Anatomy, Somatics, and Authentic Movement.
Her therapeutic work focuses on children, young people, and their families, drawing from attachment theories, developmental aspects, and trauma insights.
She is passionate about researching play therapy in natural settings and has contributed chapters and articles to several publications since 2010.
Linda E. Homeyer, PhD, LPC-S, RPT-STM
After more than 30 years of work as a play therapist, sandtray therapist, and university professor at Texas State University, Dr. Linda Homeyer transitioned to partial retirement. She continues to write, provide expert consultations, and conduct trainings in Canyon Lake, Texas.
Additionally, Linda presents at conferences across the United States. She enjoys traveling internationally to teach play therapy, sandtray therapy, and clinical supervision. Her work has taken her to Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, South Africa, Australia, Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Taiwan, Denmark, China, Italy, and even on a cruise ship!

She has also contributed numerous chapters in books and articles in journals. Her work has been translated into Turkish, Chinese, Russian, Korean, and Spanish.
Linda is an honorary emeritus professor of professional counseling at Texas State University. The Association for Play Therapy appointed Linda as emeritus director and awarded her a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2016, Linda was recognized by the Center for Play Therapy as a significant contributor to the field of play therapy.
Mgr. Zuzana Dubeková
Zuzana Dubeková is a psychotherapist and a pioneer in play therapy and filial therapy in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
She is a co-founder of the PTI Play Therapy Institute – Institute of Play Therapy.
Zuzana studied social pedagogy and educational sciences at the Faculty of Education of Comenius University in Bratislava. At the University of North Texas, she studied child-centered play therapy and filial therapy under the guidance of Dr. Garry Landreth. For seven years, she has been participating in the IPTSG – International Play Therapy Study Group, founded by Dr. Charlie Schaeffer over 20 years ago.
She completed extensive training in person-centered psychotherapy at the PCA INSTITUTE ISTER – Person-Centered Approach Institute.
Zuzana specializes in working with children, adolescents, and their parents. She offers consultations on parenting, filial therapy courses, and play therapy. She lectures, provides supervision, and conducts professional training in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
